How Magic PTT collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information — including how live voice, captions, and chat are handled.
This Privacy Policy explains how Magic PTT (the “Service”), operated by DigiDom Advanced Technology, collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information. It applies to anyone who creates an account, accepts an invitation to a room or network, or visits our website. If you have questions, see our contact page.
1. Who is responsible
For personal data we collect to provide the Service — your account details, profile, and the content you transmit or post — DigiDom Advanced Technology is the data controller. When you create a private Magic Room and invite others, you control who may join and what is shared there; you are responsible for how you use that room and for the people you invite.
2. What we collect
- Account data — email, optional display name, hashed password, and authentication timestamps and session metadata.
- Profile data — your Ham and/or GMRS callsign(s), preferred language, caption preferences, radio skin choices, and similar settings you provide.
- Voice — your push-to-talk audio is routed live to the other participants on the channel (and, on RF channels, bridged to the radio repeater). Voice communications in private rooms are ephemeral and are not stored or recorded by us, unless a room owner explicitly enables recording (where that feature is available) and only in compliance with all-party consent requirements. We do not durably store call audio in the normal course of operating the Service.
- Chat content & photos — room chat messages, direct messages, and any photos you upload, which are stored to deliver them and show history.
- Captions & translation data — on channels where captions are enabled, a live copy of the speaker's audio is streamed to our speech-to-text provider to produce a transcript, and transcript text may be sent to our translation provider so each listener can read it in their language. See the Live Captions & Translation page.
- Technical and usage data — IP address, browser/device and operating-system identifiers, connection and link-quality metrics, request logs, and error reports needed to operate and secure the Service.
- Legal-acceptance audit — when you accept these documents we may record which version you accepted, with your IP and user agent, so we can demonstrate consent if required.
3. How we use your information
- Provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
- Route live voice and deliver chat, photos, and direct messages;
- Produce live captions and translations on channels where they are enabled;
- Authenticate users and prevent fraud or abuse;
- Send transactional notifications (account approval, security alerts, and similar) by email;
- Verify callsign information, including assisted review by an AI model where applicable, to administer network access;
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
Where European/UK data-protection law applies, our legal bases are: contract (operating the Service you signed up for), legitimate interest (security, debugging, abuse prevention, product improvement), consent (where we ask for it), and legal obligation.
4. Subprocessors and sharing
We share data with the categories of third-party providers listed on our subprocessors page strictly to operate the Service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We may disclose information if required by law, in response to valid legal process, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a corporate transaction (in which case we will notify users before personal information becomes subject to a different policy).
Over-the-air transmissions are public. Anything you transmit on an RF/repeater-linked channel is broadcast over licensed radio spectrum and can be received and recorded by anyone with a suitable receiver. That is inherent to radio and is outside our control.
5. International transfers
Our hosting and primary providers operate in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed there. Where required, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
6. Data retention
Voice communications in private rooms are ephemeral and are not stored or recorded by us, unless a room owner explicitly enables recording (where that feature is available) and only in compliance with all-party consent requirements. Live call audio is otherwise routed between participants and discarded; it is not durably stored in the normal course of operating the Service. Note that over-the-air transmissions on RF/repeater-linked channels are public and may be received or recorded by third parties outside our control.
Account and profile data are retained while your account is active. Chat messages and photos are retained to provide history until you or a room owner delete them or the room is removed. On account closure, primary records are deleted within a reasonable period; backups created by our hosting provider expire on their normal retention schedule and are not user-accessible. Legal-acceptance audit rows are retained for as long as your account exists plus a reasonable period afterward for evidentiary purposes.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Delete your information (subject to our retention rules);
- Receive your information in a portable format;
- Object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent where we rely on it;
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (EU/UK) or your state attorney general (U.S. state privacy laws).
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@magicticket.help. We respond within 30 days (sooner where required by law).
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. Data in transit is encrypted with TLS; data at rest is encrypted by our hosting provider; access to production systems is limited. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Remember that over-the-air radio transmissions are inherently public.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. We do not currently use advertising cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this section and, where required, add a consent banner.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current revision is identified by the version stamp at the top of this page. When a revision is material, signed-in users may be prompted to re-accept and we may notify account holders by email.
