Magic PTT SL is our dedicated emergency path. In a major disaster — with Starlink or Starlink Mini on standby — you flip SL on and talk straight to Magic PTT central servers. No middleman. No rented relay in someone else's cloud. True emergency comms between you and us.
The flick
On Magic PTT Desktop, the SL switch drops you into the emergency shell: a hard cutover to our separate SL servers. Everyday Nexus rooms and Welcome Desk stay on the main network. SL is for when you need the lifeline, not for casual nets.
Starlink / Starlink Mini
Keep Starlink or Starlink Mini ready. When terrestrial fiber or local internet is gone, the SL design is you → satellite → our emergency servers. We do not park this path behind a third-party VoIP middleman or a borrowed VPS nose. The emergency path is ours.
You reach Magic PTT / SHTF Radio Networks operations — not a chain of unknown relays.
SL runs on its own emergency servers so disaster traffic does not lean on the same path as everyday rooms.
Built for thin links — chat and low-rate voice so Starlink duty cycles stay sane when every byte matters.
How it feels
Major event. Power and local internet are uncertain. Your Starlink Mini is on standby. You open Magic PTT Desktop, flip SL ON, sign in, and you are on the emergency floor with us. When the crisis eases, you turn SL OFF and return to normal Magic PTT.
Honest status
SL is an ops-proven emergency design: Desktop switch, allowlisted testers, separate emergency servers. Starlink attach and wider member rollout continue as we harden the dish path. The promise stays the same — when SL is in your hands, it is you and Magic PTT, not a rented middle layer.
Live from the console
The SL dispatch desk — six emergency nets on one dial (Command, Check-in, Welfare, Medical, Logistics, SpecOps), a moderated floor, the net traffic log, and live air status. Real screenshot, not a mockup.
On request
Fire departments, search teams, churches, ranches, event crews — we build private Magic PTT SL setups to order. Your own rooms, your own people, on your own hardware at your site, so your net runs air-gapped and keeps working when the internet does not. Nothing passes through a rented relay, and your traffic never leaves your building. Tell us what you need and we will work it out with you.
